Thanks everyone for taking the time to enter and for being patient with regard to the traffic light 'situation'. We were blessed with fine weather and some good times achieved, congratulations to Steve Cottington for retaining the trophy.

Thanks must also go to the Westvets who marshaled and helped with proceedings without whom the event would not proceed, it was a joy to see so many friends and fellow Westvets during the event.

If you have any comments or queries then please contact Gordon.

Chris Hart 22 Sept 1936 - 13 March 2011

We are very saddened to learn of the death of Chris Hart  who passed away on Sunday after losing his battle against prostate cancer. Chris was an active member of West Vet and will be sadly missed both locally and nationally.

Our thoughts are with his wife and family.

Janet Wilson

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Janet Wilson - our thoughts are with Peter, Helen and Michael.

Janet's funeral will be on Monday 25th October at Semington Crematorium, Devizes Road, Semington, Wiltshire, BA14 6HL at 13:45.

It will be a humanist service and a celebration of Janet's life. So there should be no black ties. Cycling to the crematorium is encouraged as is cycling clothing.

There are only to be Family flowers. Instead there will be a collection for the Hospital League of Friends as the hospital fought so hard and so long to keep Janet with us.

After the service everyone is invited to Beechfield House Hotel, Beanacre, Witshire SN12 7PU, (Tel 01225 703700) for a buffet tea.

If you intend to join everyone for the buffet please let Aileen Brown know asap.

It is about 20 inches/500mm in height and the inscription says: Arthur Wilcockson memorial trophy, Presented by Subscription. Please contact the webmaster if you are able to help.

Brian Newton, Echelon SPIUK - Accident

Whilst riding the VTTA(West) club 10 Brian Newton misjudged a corner, touched the verge and was catapulted into a deep ditch. No one else was involved. Brian sustained multiple fractures to his spine, neck, sternum and ribs. Brian was wearing a safety helmet. He has had multiple x-rays and ct scans. Brian’s nervous system, mental faculties and lower limbs have not been affected and he is clear and coherent. He is, however, fully strapped down and not yet in a position for visits. An operation has not been ruled out but now seems less likely. The current prognosis is that he will be in a full body splint for about six months. Brian is in Kingfisher Ward of the Great Western Hospital in Swindon. He is, however, scheduled to be moved fairly soon to either Bristol or Oxford. No further information is available and Brian’s partner Arja will be very busy for some while. Goodwill cards from friends would be appreciated.

Authorised by Brian.
